Spring Update #1 (Apr. 4-10)

Spring Quarter is usually an extremely busy time of the year, and this week was just the beginning of it.

Friday and Saturday the women traveled to Toledo for Ohio Zeta Day. Each spring all of the Ohio collegiate and alumnae chapters gather to celebrate everything that Zeta Tau Alpha means. It also serves as a yearly award ceremony, and this year the WSU Eta Pi Chapter won 2 awards! They were awarded "Highly Commendable GPA" with a chapter cumulative GPA of 3.2. They also won the statewide service award.

The annual Parents Banquet was Sunday. This is an opportunity for parents to meet all of the sisters and see all of the work done throughout the year while enjoying a nice luncheon. A special thank you to our Parents Banquet Chair, Molly, who did a fabulous job planning the entire banquet.

Also, congratulations to our three new members, Liz, Kate, and Jessica! Welcome to Zeta! Thank you to our Vice President of Recruitment, Megan, for all of her hard work, which found us three amazing women.

This week will continue to be a busy week with lots of upcoming events! Hope everyone has a fabulous week.

Welcome to Spring Quarter! Mar. 28-Apr.3

It's officially Spring Quarter!

Over the past few weeks the women have taken their Winter Quarter finals and enjoyed a few trips together over Spring Break.

7 of the women spent a little over a week in Ireland, arriving just in time for St. Patrick's Day!

Another group headed south for a little beach fun to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!

And finally, the majority of the Fall 2010 pledge class headed to Gatlinburg, Tennessee for a week in the mountains.

Sunday was the first official meeting of Spring Quarter and there are lots of exciting events planned for the upcoming week, including Ohio Zeta Days. Each spring Zeta Tau Alpha collegians and alumnae from all across Ohio gather and spend a day together celebrating everything that Zeta means to them. This year, it will be held in Toledo on Friday April 9 and Saturday April 10.

Parents Banquet 2011 is also coming up this week! Each spring the sisters hold a luncheon for parents and family members to see what the chapter has been up to all year and it is a really wonderful chance to everyone to meet. Check back next week for more pictures and information from the event.

We hope everyone is having a great start to the quarter and we look forward to seeing all of you at the many events this Spring.

Weekly Update #2 Feb. 28- Mar. 6

This week started out spending time with other Greeks on campus, and ended with a reminder of what it truly means to be a Zeta Tau Alpha.

Tuesday night the ladies had dinner with the women of Theta Phi Alpha at Logan's Roadhouse.

Then Wednesday evening the women battled it out playing Wii games at a sisterhood. Thanks to Eryn, Kasey, and Nikki for hosting the sisterhood.

Alpha Xi Delta had their annual philanthropy event, Roller Disco, at an indoor skating rink on Friday. The event raised money for their philanthropy, Autism Speaks.

Tonight was a big night though! Our Winter 2011 pledge class was initiated into the Eta Pi chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha. Congratulations Kaitlyn and Caroline!

It was also the last collegiate meeting for two of our members Caley and Sara, as both will graduate after this quarter. Becca and Lauren "roasted" Caley and Sara and then each senior willed many of their favorite items and fondest memories to members of the chapter. Congratulations, Caley and Sara! You have done such amazing things for our chapter and we know you will continue to do great things down the road. We are so proud to call both of you Eta Pi's and you will be missed.

This weekend was also Eta Pi's annual visit with their Province President, Teresa. The Province President visits once a year to check in on the chapter and help with ideas and any questions chapter officers or members may have. A big thank you to Teresa for spending many hours with chapter executive and programming council members over the weekend. We truly appreciate you!

Also, the chapter will be hosting a Traveling Leadership Consultant (TLC). ZTA national website states that a TLC "is a recent graduate who devotes full time to ZTA responsibilities. She travels throughout the school year, visiting with collegiate chapters. Her duties include officer education, leadership development, chapter organization, supervision of membership recruitment and assistance with new chapters". The chapter hosted a TLC, Katie, in the fall right before formal recruitment to help make sure we recruited the best of the best. Now, the chapter is lucky enough to host Katie again for a few days so that the new chapter officers can work with her on their exciting projects and ideas. We look forward to spending a great week becoming an even better chapter!

Events on our calendar next week (March 7-13)
Monday 3/7- National Badge Day
Wednesday 3/9- Potluck Dinner (Sisterhood)
Friday 3/11- Dinner and a Movie (Sisterhood)
All Week Long- STUDY! Finals are coming up next week!

Wednesday the women headed down to the Zeta Tau Alpha Iota Pi chapter house at the University of Dayton where they had a pot luck dinner with the UD women and the Zeta Tau Alpha Dayton Alumnae Chapter.

It was also a big weekend for Greek Philanthropies at Wright State!

Delta Zeta Sorority held their 9th Annual "Mr. WSU" pageant on Friday and the women attended to support the men they sponsored in the competition! They sponsored Ben, a member of Delta Tau Delta, and Ivan, a member of the WSU Men's Soccer Team. Both of the men made it through the first round and couldn't have represented ZTA any better.
